Find the perfect dishwasher

Find the perfect dishwasher
Technology never stops evolving. Every day, a new product appears on the market to make our lives easier. And dishwashers are no different. In fact, today they’re more powerful, efficient and practical than ever!
However, before choosing a model, you should take the time to think about your needs and explore all possible options. That way, you’ll be sure your purchase is perfect for you!
A question of space and layout
You’ll find both slide-in and free-standing models in-store. Very popular, slide-ins simply fit in under the kitchen counter, to avoid pointlessly cluttering your space. Standard dishwashers are 24 inches wide, while compact models are 18 inches wide making them ideal for two- to three-person households or small kitchens.
Free-standing models are practical if you’ve no space for a dishwasher under the counter and you don’t want to waste cupboard space to make room for one. Plus, they’re easy to move around with their castors. To use, simply hook them up to the kitchen faucet.
Important note: number of place settings
The capacity of a dishwasher is an important note to consider when you choose a model, as someone living alone doesn’t have the same needs as a family with three children. Usually, the capacity is based on the number of place settings that can comfortably fit (one place setting includes a full service for one person).
For example, compact models generally hold a maximum of 8 place settings. Larger models hold up to 16. That said, most standard dishwashers can hold at least 12 place settings. Obviously, the capacity of each model depends on the size of the tub. Note that the design of the inside of the dishwasher can also play a role.
Good to know: When you evaluate your needs, think of the oversized items that you’ll wash often and that will take up more space in the tub.
The capacity to always clean effectively
More and more technological, dishwashers often have advanced wash cycles. Multi-step systems and wash arms with numerous jets, for example, make it easier to dislodge food residue. There are even models that are “intelligent”. Equipped with electronic sensors, they determine the amount of water and soap required, and the temperature and length of the wash depending on, among other factors, how dirty the dishes are.
Models consuming less and less energy
Dishwashers have greatly evolved from an energy efficiency point of view over the last 10 years. Current models are less energy consuming, reducing your electricity bill at the same time. They also use less soap and water, helping to preserve this valuable natural resource. Energy efficient models may well be more expensive to buy. But the savings made in the long term ensure a big return on investment.
So, if you’re looking for a greener choice, look for ENERGY STAR qualified models in-store. They exceed federal regulations by 10 to 50 % depending on the categories, in terms of energy use.
