1/2 cup cold water
1 teaspoon salt

For the meat filling:
1 pound ground pork
1/2 pound ground beef
1 onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 cup chicken broth
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Salt and pepper to taste

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).

2. In a large bowl, mix the flour and salt. Add the vegan shortening or lard and mix until the texture becomes crumbly.

3. Add cold water, one tablespoon at a time, until the dough can be formed into a ball. Do not overmix. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

4. Meanwhile, prepare the meat filling. In a large skillet, sauté the ground pork and beef until well-cooked.

5. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing until tender.Add chicken broth, ground cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10-15 minutes until the filling thickens slightly.

6. Roll out half of the dough and place it in a pie dish. Add the meat filling.

7. Roll out the remaining dough and cover the filling. Seal the edges and make a few incisions on the top to allow steam to escape.

8. Bake in the preheated oven for about 30 to 40 minutes or until the crust is golden.

9. Let the meat pie rest for a few minutes before cutting it into slices.

Enjoy your meal!
